The calls came in and I am headed for the heart of Nashville. Going
straight from stix to city to the big city. I ain't the most thrilled
missionary but I am super excited for the new adventure! I am going the
the Smith Springs ward so I guess not directly in Nashville but right
next door. I am still going to be a District Leader but now I am also
doing training!! I am follow up training Elder Hamblin. Elder White told
me he is a pretty awesome dude so I am stoked! The APs (assistants to
the President) are in my ward and district, so I am like the bishop for a
general authority... I think it is gonna be a blast! I will actually be
able to spend Pday with other missionaries!
My story for this week happened while we were on exchanges (splits). I
was with Elder Story from Highland Utah! He went to Lone Peak and was a
year older than I was. He is an awesome Elder! We were staying the day
here in Linden. After we had tried a couple drop ins, we decided to do
some tracting. We got to our first house and it was a blue trailer with a
ramp to the front door. So first off we know whoever in there was old
and even more evidence of this was the medical helicopter evacuation
sticker on her door. We knocked and started hearing this terrible
coughing. We almost busted through the door to see if the person was
dying. We knock again and the coughing continued. Soon after that the
coughing stopped. There was an awkward silence then all of a sudden I
could hear this jazzy regae guitar start playing. Story and I just
busted up laughing as we left the doorstep. We knocked multiple times
but there wasn't an answer. Only in the backwoods of TN will you find
people like that ha! Oh and this other guy told us about his 17 bars of
gold he found while using a metal detector. I am going to miss this
place.
I have really developed a testimony on prayer and personal revelation. I
used the advise president Eyring gave and approached prayer like I am
approaching the throne of God. Let me tell you, when you pray this way
you feel so much better. It helps you put all your heart into the prayer
and realize how much you really are in debt to God. He doesn't have to
listen but he does out of so much love. If you truly want to know
something, pray with all your soul and have a broken heart and a
contrite spirit. If you do this, you will never ask anything that is
wrong. Believe that you will be answered and you will be. Like the
Savior Himself said, "not my will but thine be done." Then wait. Let Him
communicate to your heart what He needs you to know. I know that you
will be answered, all in God's own timing.
I said goodbye to a lot of the members and they were sad to see me go.
The life of a missionary is hard sometimes. I was so willing to stay
here for the rest of my mission but the Lord has other plans for me. I
will miss my Linden family but I am stoked to meet some more wonderful
people. Happy birthday to my current companion, Elder Benich. His
birthday is tomorrow! I always learn so much from my companions and
Elder Benich has taught me some good things. He's staying in Linden as
the new DL. I am happy to go realizing Linden is in good hands. :)
Have a blessed week!
TNM
Love, Elder Q
